So sweet...

Image
I love when the boys show love towards each other.  It's such a nice change from the fighting and beating up on each other :o) These were from the morning after Tyson got home from the hospital and Lincoln was just so sweet and interested in what was wrong with his leg and Tyson told him all about it---I just love them! Lincoln had to sit right next to him all morning :o)

Tyson's Heart

Image
Finally, we got some good news for a change!! To be honest, I was really thinking we were going to have to a) sedate him during his echo & b) talk about procedure/surgeries and I was wrong on both accounts!!  And I am so thrilled to be able to admit that!! With how things went the night before in the hospital when Tyson broke his growth plate, I was for sure this appointment was going to be beyond insane.  Especially, since we were at a new hospital with St. Joe's now transferred to PCH.  After waiting for awhile we were taken back and immediately Tyson began to scream, he was terrified at first to get his vitals taken and then once we went back to the room to get started on the Echo we popped in "Cars" and surprisingly enough, he quieted down and they were able to get some good shots of his heart.  During the Echo, I started to worry as a new (PCH tech) was looking at his heart for the first time and got worried himself when he couldn't find what he ...

First major injury

Since we've done the whole toddler bed thing, noone has really been sleeping all that well.  And Wednesday was one of those exhausting days.  We were both beyond tired and a couple times we talked to each other during the day about just how tired we really were and I went as even far as to say "Not that I want anything to happen, but I wish that someone would call me and tell me I have to go home because I am so tired!".    Well...within 20 minutes, I was getting calls left and right from my mom, dad & Rob.  They had been trying to get a hold of me because Tyson might have broken his foot!   I now have learned my lesson, and will not be wishing for anything like that any time soon!! Waiting in the ER.. Everyone was in state of panic, which normally I am the calm one, but I was feeling so bad that I wished for someone to call me out of work that I quickly became frantic and felt like a horrible mom :(   Wha...

A little humor for ya!

So this not sleeping through the night thing does have some humor in it... Last night when Lincoln woke up, I went in there and was by his bed and I see out of the corner of my eye something moving on the floor.  I took a couple double looks at it thinking what the heck is that and then quickly realized that it was Tyson!!!  I was laughing so hard, because I was so out of it and really had no idea what the heck was on the floor.  Now, I'm still not sure what happened and why he was on the floor, but I do know he scared me and it was funny!! And tonight... After Rob got home and we started feeding the boys he realized the boys were still in their pajamas and our conversation went a little like this: Rob: "um, I just realized they are still in their pajamas" Me: "they sure are" Rob: "did you just give up?" Me: "absolutely" Rob to the boys:  "did mommy just give up on you guys today?" The boys: "adda, adda, da da da d...

Sleeping through the night...

We've definitely have hit a rough patch with sleeping through the night.  I feel bad for them (and not gonna lie, us too) because they are just not sleeping very well through the night and it's affecting them during the day.  They are just so tired and drag the first half of the day and of course when parents don't get any sleep, our patience level is very low.  Whats hard at this age is that you never know when their this young what the problem may be because they can't quite communicate with you.  For them, I think it could be a combination of all of these: teething (2yr molars), scary dreams, waking up and not knowing what they are in/where they are, drinking too much water and peeing through everything, scared of the dark/shadows and a little seperation anxiety...and then sometimes, they get so upset that getting back to sleep is almost impossible.  Thankfully we've had more good nights than bad, but it still breaks my heart w...

One bad---One good

The first couple of days of this "toddler bed transitioning" has been quite rough, but just the difference from Sunday to Monday has given me so much hope on having my great sleepers back!! Sunday... Sunday was the most testing day ever!  We laid them down for their afternoon nap and of course, they got out...again and again and again!  We were about an hour into it and didn't know what to do.  We tried turning their cribs around to see if they would stay in and not be able to get out.  We thought maybe we had put them in their "big boy beds" too soon, but I think we're just fine, it's just going to take some getting used to .  After a few minutes they were out running around upstairs.  At one point we walked in and the room was a disaster (I should have taken a picture!) and the two of them were just sitting inside their toy box playing...they had everything pulled out of their closet, every toy out all...

Big Boy Beds!!

Image
Finally after very rough, long nights we decided to turn the boys cribs into "big boy beds".   I still wasn't ready for this, because a part of me feels like it is too soon, but on the other hand it feels like the right thing to do especially since someone could really get hurt if we leave them in their cribs for them to climb out each day.  Here's a before picture... And then after... Lincoln's Bed! Tyson's Bed!! We had to lock them out while putting them together and so when they finally got to come in, they were very excited about their new "big boy beds"! Gotta have our stuffed animals to sleep with! And then after fighting over the cars pajama's each boy was given one piece of the cars & one piece of the monkey pajama's and off to bed they went...it started out promising... And then it quickly, and by quickly I mean 2.2 seconds, went down straight down the tubes!  It quickly became Daddy's turn to be the "bounc...

My new position: Bouncer

I've added another job description to my resume: Bouncer.  Not one of my favorite jobs, but someones gotta do so I guess it'll be me.  During nap time today, both boys just kept getting out of their cribs over and over again that I had no other choice but to sit in a chair at their door and continue to say "lay down"...I was beyond exhausted and these little guys had more energy than I care to admit!  I think it's time to put the toddler beds together, but I'm just not ready.  I feel like they won't be my little babies anymore with them being in toddler beds, but I think (I hope!) it's time!

Yay for bedtime!!

I am so thankful tonight, because both boys stayed in their beds and didn't cry when we walked out of their room!!  This is such a positive change from what's been going on lately and I am beyond happy on how easy bedtime was tonight!!  Great job boys, we are so proud of you!!   Now...don't let this just be a fluke, let's do this every night, okay? Thanks!  :o)

Sleep

Some days I wish you'd get a manual on how to raise kids or what to do when your child...(fill in the blank).  First off, I will admit that we are very fortunate to have good sleepers, which also why this is so hard to deal with.  About 2 weeks ago, Lincoln decided he did not want to sleep in his own bed anymore, he had to sleep with us or at least be on our bed.  I don't know why this happened, but sounds like most, if not all, toddlers go through this particular stage.  He would do this right before bed and in the middle of the night if he woke up. We would lay him down and he would just scream and scream and scream...bloody murder-snout and tears everywhere screaming and would not give up.  I'll admit, we made the mistake and ended up bringing him into our bed, but when you've got 2 little ones in the same room and one is already causing a stir at bedtime and/or in the middle of the night you'll do anything not to w...

Date Night!

Image
Since all 3 kids are with my parents in California, we decided to take part in a very much needed date night!  We went to The Keg and I finally got to wear my hot, super cute shoes!! Had a yummy orange martini! And enjoyed a nice quiet with meal with my favorite person :o) We stayed in one other night and then Saturday we went to see "Horrible Bosses" and that was super funny!!  I laughed pretty much the entire movie so glad we saw it!!  It was a great 3 days, but we are happy to have the kids home with us, we missed them :o)

1st Family Vacation...Laguna Beach, CA!

Image
We've been to Omaha with the kids to visit family, but this was the first time we actually went somewhere on a vacation to a real destination. Let me start by saying, overall, it was an awesome vacation!!  The weather was perfect, the company was great and the food was delicious!  We really had a good time...and now for the craziness...Just kidding...well kind of!  haha! We left our house at 3am on Saturday---we thought it would be easier to leave in the middle of the night so they would all sleep in the car, because 6+ hours with 3 kids = no bueno!  When we left the boys were awake for about 45 minutes...they woke up sometime around 6am and were up for about 45 minutes until we got to Coco's to eat breakfast...let's just say those 45 minutes were a little rough!  They fought for about 30 minutes straight, all 3 of them!  Kaila would touch Lincoln's car seat, which pissed him off and then Lincoln would take Tyson's blanket and cup whi...
