Change. Sucks.

Our family has experienced a pretty drastic change in the past month.  Unfortunately, my parents have decided to separate and get a divorce.  Plain and simple: divorce sucks.   It sucks really bad...not just for the husband and wife, but everyone.  As one of the kids, you wish you could pick up the pieces and put it all back to together and have everything be back to normal, but then you quickly realize that you can't be selfish and force something to work that just may not.  Or want things back to the way it was because you don't want to disrupt what you have going on in your own personal life.
I may not agree with what's going on or how things may/will be handled, but I love them both dearly and respect their decision as they know what's best for them and our family.  I will say, that even though we are all older, it doesn't make it any easier---No matter the age, divorce and change is very hard to deal with.

With everything going on and things moving so quickly and somewhat chaotic, we didn't want to be rude and make my mom watch the boys as her life has now taken a complete 360 degree turn...hence the reason why the boys are at Maria's (the new sitter).  There's nothing stating they will stay there forever, but we felt that we needed to respect my family and let them get though this tough time without having to chase down two toddlers.

The transition with the boys going to Maria's went pretty well.  They definitely have gotten used to us leaving during the week, but of course there were still tears from everyone after we'd drop them off at Maria's.  Every day and week improves immensely, but it's still not easy leaving them with someone else besides family.  Thankfully they have gotten to really love going to her house and playing with the other kids, not to mention she was a referral from a really close friend who just adores her!  We are starting to really like her too, which helps us a lot during this time.

It is still very sad and we all wish things would be different, but I feel that under the circumstances and in my heart of hearts, that things will be better in the long run.  The holidays are going to suck this year for sure.  Trying to decide all the details as to who/what/where/when and then put on the brave face that we are all just fine, when we all know deep down how sucky and crappy this is.  I'm sure things will get better and/or easier as time goes by, but for now it just simply sucks.

Sorry you have to go through this! My parents did this when I was early 20's...just so hard for everyone.

Divorce sucks. Amen to that.
